Stunning Church Camp Destination Wedding | Missouri

Updated: Jan 7, 2023

Brock (the groom) and I (coordinator) grew up at the same church together where our parents served in the children's ministry. Brock was always larger than life like his two brothers and was always making sure everyone felt welcome and thought of. Fast forward several years, Brock started working at a special needs camp in Missouri called Camp Barnabas. Our church took a group from the youth to go serve a week at this camp. This is where I met my husband Jimmy. This camp changed our lives and I continued to serve at the camp for 6 more years. Years passed, I got married and starting working, Brock still lived in Missouri being very active with Barnabas and his church family. When I started my wedding coordination business and wanted to start in destinations and elopements, was the time Brock got engaged. Him and his fiancé, Alaina, were going to get married at Camp Barnabas! They reached out to me and I was so stoked to be back at Camp Barnabas and coordinate a destination all at the same time!

We started planning right away! Our zoom calls were my favorite. We would spend hours asking questions, bouncing ideas off of one another and really got to see the wonderful couple they were. Brock took the lead planner role and was amazing at connecting vendors and helping me do my best job as a coordinator. They put a lot of thought behind their wedding and it showed! Every single detail was thought of and the guests were blown away with the set up and overall experience.

The wedding weekend was a blast! I arrived Friday before the rehearsal and got my golf cart and made my way around the camp. Brock and Alaina truly made it feel like you were arriving to a weekend getaway. All the family and out of town guests had lodging the the cabins and had an itinerary in every room. When had the rehearsal on at the pond where their ceremony would be, then headed up to the top of the camp where there was chairs and lounges to eat tacos and roast marshmallows for the rest of the evening. We visited and had the bride's brother playing a special song for the couple on his guitar. It was a wonderful evening of laughter and community before their wedding day.

The Wedding Day

The morning of the wedding the family made sure to have out breakfast for all the out of town guests. We had breakfast together and enjoyed a slow morning before the festivities began. The wedding party had their own cabins and got ready slowly and enjoyed their morning. I made sure the timeline was relaxed and gave everyone plenty of time to enjoy themselves.

We started the festivities with a private first look at IP. This is a place at camp where the camper start every morning with a devo and worship. It is a beautiful spot where you can see for miles. After that it was time to get these two hitched. The ceremony and reception took place by the pond at the entrance of camp. The ceremony was on the dock and the reception was under a large tent. The decorations were absolutely stunning and the dance floor was magical. The evening was one to remember with lots of fun, food, and fellowship.
